Nature is the best constructor ever, but also in nature there are a endless evolution.
During 2015 we have upgraded all our cables to Serie II.
With the upgrade we have improved the connectors on all signal and Eartha cables. They now fit better and also sounds better since we use less metal. We have improved and matched the drainwiresystem in all of our cables on each cable line. Our digital cables have get a totally new configuration of the conductors.
We have gently adjust and tone the conductors on all our cables.
The results are a natural sound and a flow in the music that is seldom heard.
Duo negativa affirmant.
Two negatives multiply together to make a positive.
One might say “I am not without knowledge”. It sounds contrived and forced.
Or quite simply “I know”. It sounds simple and natural.
It is the same thing with HiFi in general and cables in particular. If a cable is not neutral, but rather has tones in some register, for example a sharp treble, one can try to compensate with a cable later in the chain that roles off and is softer at the top. One simply can start to correct the mistake by making other mistakes and then the result will be as in the sentence above: contrived and forced.
All our cables have a neutral resonance as no register stands out. In addition to good placements in depth and with, they offer a well-placed high sound image. This is no singer holding the guitar high over his head or a piano with sawn-off legs.
Characteristics of Entreq Cable Design
1 Separate cable for positive and negative signals
2 Asymmetrical design
3 Positive and negative cables are spun clockwise and anticlockwise respectively.
4 Adapted lengths to minimise the antenna effect.
5 DIC Dedicated contacts so the area on the mass of the contact areas correspond to the cable area.
6 Wood in the contact framework. Non-magnetic and non-conductive.
7 Only pure copper and silver in the signal paths. No alloys
8 Drain wire instead of shielding in order to connect to a pure earth point (External Earth Drain System)
9 Cotton covering instead of synthetic materials
10 EEDS External Earth Drain System
This entails the shielding / drain wire not being connected to the device’s negative pole, but is connected to another external earth point. One of our ground boxes is suggested.
This way, we drain off the interference/noise that the shielding absorbs to the ground outside of the signal paths, instead of the usual mixing it together with the signal wire at the connection to the devices.
Power Cables.
As we see it, the power cable is the most important cable in the jungle of cables. If it is not correct here, you can try to compensate for the error in the power cable further down in the chain, i.e., compensate for errors by making other errors.
There are many sceptical people who feel that since the power is conveyed for miles down ordinary wires that it is just silly to believe that the last few metres are significant. Add to it the fact that each device has a glass fuse in its IEC contact and it can seem even more logical that the power cable does not have an effect. However, once more we believe that besides the regular parameters such as inductance and capacitance, the power cable’s ability to handle very high frequencies is crucial to the final result. There is quite a lot to substantiate our belief in this. One is that the connectors and the wires are of great importance to how a network cable performs. If it was only a matter of 50Hz, the different alloys and materials in the contacts should not affect the sound. Furthermore, the relationship between the cable area/performance suggests that it is a matter of high frequencies instead of 50Hz. We also place great importance on the connectors on our cables, and therefore we manufacture them ourselves for all other cables. The power cables are the exception as we use Furutech connectors. Naturally, all of our power cables are designed with separate cables for the phase and neutral and with a mixed earth wire with the suitable area. We also feel that the antenna effect is of very great significance, i.e., how many radio waves, magnetic fields etc. the cable receives and send into the device. In this case, material selection and length are decisive. It is quite simply a matter of designing the cable so that it is a really bad antenna. (Those who are interested can easily experiment using a radio/TV receiver and a copper wire and have a practical experience of the difference length plays in reception.
Ever since 2014, we have developed power cords with EEDS where we earth the dialectrum to the ground box in order to drain away the magnetic fields and stay voltages. This is an interesting new development which offers a considerably more relaxed and unforced reproduction.
Signal / Loudspeaker Cables
All the cables that are connected to a stereo set work as transmitting/receiving antennas.
We feel that the length of the cables (antenna effect), their ability to handle really high frequencies and that there is a straight signal path without bottlenecks are all far more important parameters than are inductance and capacitance.
Adapting the connectors according to the design of the cable is crucial to the result, in our opinion.
If one uses ready-made contacts, one must simply adapt the cable to the contacts.
That is why we always manufacture our own contacts with wooden frameworks. A material that is completely non-magnetic and non-conductive and which does not affect the signal at all, the way plastic or metal do.
For the contact surfaces themselves, we use pure silver/cooper, where silver is used for positive and copper for negative.
Furthermore, all of our signal/loudspeaker cables feature our EEDS (External Earth Drain System).
Unique cable design…
Our unique cables are the result of several years’ development and hard work. We have taken nothing for granted but have instead examined all the current thinking and knowledge which is assumed about cable design and its role in signal transfer, then re-visited it again with reference to not only the technical measurement but in what and how it imparts an actual sonic influence to each key stage. We have purely and honestly investigated and penetrated the operation and meaning of every square millimetre of a cable. Through this we have acquired knowledge that few, if any other manufacturer have, regarding signal transference. Not many manufactures of cables put any real effort in to the fact that when you connect a cable to your system, you in practice are not merely connect an antenna that pick’s up a wide band of radio waves, that indeed influence the sound, but that its effect’s a far more ranging. Even those that do work in this area generally don’t really do anything positive with the problem; generally just covering it up or not suitably understanding it’s entire influence and therefore not knowing what to do with the noise etc.
Connectors…and there influences.
We have been championing the importance of connectors since the very beginning of our companies inception. Until very recently solutions were not really being addressed by others, certainly not fully! For over a decade we have understood the potential issues on many levels involved in making connectors and connections. This resulted in our discovery of several revelations forcing us to come up with our own unusual and quite unique solutions. We have therefore designed and constructed our own contacts, connectors, grounding system ( EEDS) etc because in our opinion attention to detail in this area really does count. For us this has resulted in a number of patents and today we can offer cables that can be compared only with the best cables from the best manufacturers in the world. For you this means that you can experience real pleasure from your music at an acceptable price through high quality cables, where no stone in the design brief has been left un-turned. We always work this way!
